An "Oh Wow" Impact

The person who has the biggest influence on my life right now is Jacob. I care about everything he has to say. He is one of the only people I can trust. Right now my family is going through a lot with splitting up and he's really helped out a lot. He is someone I can turn to when I need help or advise. His opinion means everything to me. Even if it was something outrageous. I'd believe him. I trust him to tell me the truth. I'd give up anything for him. All he has to do is tell me. He is the biggest influence on my life.

Its burring outside!

I love winter. It is amazing. Yes. This is my favorite time of year. I love when it snows. I love snowboarding. Its great. I like winter break. Its just long enough for a break. Its not too long like summer but not too short like thanksgiving. I like spending time with family. I like drinking hot coco and sleeping all day. So yes.. Winter is great.

Career

For my career, i was thinking of becoming a professional home designer. I love drawing anything and everything about homes. I draw in any free time I have. I would enjoy doing this because I put a lot of detail into the homes I make.

Technologic =]

Technology has made my life easier. Like my iPod. When I'm on the bus and don't want to listen to annoying little kids then I just listen to my music. Or when I'm bored. I can just get out my cell phone and text Jacob. Also next year, Ill be able to drive so then I wont need to ride the bus. Computers also help out a lot. When I'm typing a report or something for school. So yes. Technology has made my life easier.

One Wish

If I could have one wish it would be that Alexis would stop complaining about me missing school. Everyday I miss, she sends me a message telling me to come to school and that if I dont come the next day I'm toast. But I love toast so I wouldnt be too sad about that. Then the next day I come back, she complains that I need to stop missing school.

Like Monday, she told me the lunch table was too boring without me. I told her I was busy destroying the devils brother (Diablo). She seemed okay with it when I told her. But today when I came to school, I got yelled at for it! Its bologna!

Election Day

This is all I have been hearing about for the past forever. I think election day is so important to so many people because everyone has their own chance to choose who runs our country. It decides who will be in control until the next election day, in four years. Its important to choose wisely. Its crucial to decide yourself and not let anyone else decide for you. It is your opinion and not theirs. When people make this decision, they are helping to decide for the country.

America's Dependence on Foreign Oil

$200,000 per minute. $13 Million per hour. & More than $25 Billion per year go to Persain Imports alone.
"With U.S. gasoline consumption accounting for 11 percent of world oil production, the U.S. has been hit hard by our dependence on oil, intensifying our economic and political vulnerability. "
My opinion about this topic is that if people keep complaining about our oil and gas prices then they should find other ways to get around. Which some people have. I believe in carpulling. =] It saves gas and money. But it is also easier so that you wouldnt have to take 2 or 3 cars to go to work or to school.
A myth I have heard about breaking this habbit is pushing for alternative fuels instead of foreign oils will break our addiction. But the new energy costs requires that the country produce 36 billion gallons of biofuels per year by 2022. We cannot gradually introduce biofuels instead of foreign oils.
I strongly believe that we should push for alternative fuels. It seems smarter and more sufficent. I think that they should make more alternative fuel cars. Which I know they have made a few but come on.. who can afford them? From what I have heard, most of them are way out of price range for an average person.

Its halloween...!

Its Halloween and everyone is dressed as a celebrity. It bothers me. I think Halloween should be about the day of the dead. So everyone should look dead. But I don't know. That's just my opinion. Some people didn't dress at all. Like Alexis, she looks boring. She looks the same as she does every other day. I told her she needs to dress up but she wont listen to me so I decided to draw her a picture of Andareil. Andariel is a character off of Diablo II. She is a spider, which Alexis hates. But oh well,.. its what she gets for not listening to me. =] One costume that I really like is Lexi's(my other friend). I did her make up and hair. I think it looks really good. She looks like she just came out from underground. Its very nifty if I must say. But as for me, Im dress up a Jacob. Nothing too bad. I still have blood on my face (fake blood). Its practically a tradition now. I thought I would try to look appropriet for the occasion.

Alexis isnt hyper today.

I came to school thinking she was gonna be hyper and she's not. She's all quiet. It's not fair. But Oh Well.. she's still my BFF!

Bye bye step-dad =/

My parents are getting divorced. Its really upsetting but at least my mom will be happy. I have to move to Quincy schools. It seems kinda scary though. The high school in Quincy seems huge.. because it is. Jacob said he would help me through it though. He said something about a A-H building and F-K and I dont even know. I got lost half way through the conversation. He's been a lot of help for the past couple of days. He came over tuesday which was pretty nice.
Im actually kinda excited to move to Quincy. Alexis might go there next year to keep me awake through all my classes. If I were to miss a day, I'd swear she would kill me. I've missed two days so far and she said its been very boring. All I heard about was that the luch table was SO quiet and that I better come back or else.. well now she's almost asleep. I expected her to be awake and thrilled to see me but whatever... at least she isnt complaining about me being gone. Anyway, I'm getting off subject. I know a few people in Quincy so it won't be so bad. I think the classes will be more advanced than here. But a plus is I would get out of school earlier.
Im gonna miss my step dad. He was the only 'dad' I knew. I grew up with him and he's taught me so much. Him and I have fought quiet a few times but oh well. Things have always gotten better. I dont really know where to go from here. I have people helping me, which I'm thankful for. They can keep a smile on my face.

History of Halloween

History
Halloween origins in the ancient Celtic Festival. It is a time when kids dress up as monsters and go from door to door wanting candy. Also some people thinks its a time to scare people and play pranks on them. Hallows Eve, or the night before the 'All Hallows', also called 'All Hallowmas', or 'All Saints', or 'All Souls' Day, observed on November 1, which honors all saints. (In old English the word 'Hallow' meant 'sanctify'.)
Trick or Treat
In peasant practices, they would go around collecting money, eggs, butter, and apples to prepare for the festival of St. Columb Kill. In the ninth-century a European custom was 'souling'. On Nov. 2, All souls day, early Christians would walk from village to village asking for soul cakes. The more cakes they would recieve, the more prayers they would promise to save.
Jack-O-Lanterns
Irish Children would carve out potatoes and turnips and light them for gatherings. 'Jack' is a villan that neither God or the devil wanted. Often denied, he searched for a place to rest. His only heat was from a candle in a rotten turnip.

Why do you think Standardized Testing is important/ unimportant?

Yes. I believe Standardized Testing is important so that you can test what you have already learned and to see if you've learned enough. I don't think its fair that everyone is compared to each other. People are different and different people know different things.

Some advantages for this Standardized tests are that they can be generalized and replaceable and they are designed to provide skills for useful information. Although individual assessments may not be accurate enough for practical purposes.
